Eastern Shore Chapel Episcopal Church has received guidance from the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia to plan for phases regarding re-gathering during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2005, construction began on a columbarium and the first inurnments in the columbarium took place in June, 2006. By Phases, we are referring to our plan for a gradual re-opening in which we adjust to our new normal.
Our cemetery is one of the few in the area which allows the use of engraved memorial stones. The Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery was established around 1900 on the grounds just north of the third chapel building which was located directly across the road from Naval Air Station Oceana.
Each in-ground burial site is limited to hold the remains of two persons: two cremated remains (cremains), two coffin/vault burials, or one coffin burial and one cremain. Cemetery Office hours are by appointment only.

Eastern Shore Chapel has been in continual service for over three centuries. While the exact construction date of the first Eastern Shore Chapel is not known, court records establish its existence as early as 1689. Nearly 500 in-ground gravesites are available to all Episcopalians and others to purchase. Cameron Randle became the 45th Rector of Eastern Shore Chapel on October 1, 2019 after serving the parish for two years as Priest-In-Charge.
