The brutal, stressful gameplay of Dead Space 2 remains intact, and Gabe makes for a nice change of character, with his cool new Rig and classy British accent. Not a whole lot was significantly changed except for the addition of multiplayer (which I have yet to try, as it is online only) and the revamping of the sequences without gravity (which they did a great job of, these were really cumbersome in the original). Army of TWO The Devils Cartel delivers a fun, over-the-top co-op experience. Tweet on Twitter. You'll be glad you did. © 2020 CBS Interactive Inc. All rights reserved. It is like an immediate continuation of the first, like a full-length expansion. The side characters are not as memorable.

Weapons are effective and can be upgraded which adds another element to the game.
Dead Space 2 has set the bar high for 2011, and with the sequel, the franchise has made its case as the best survival horror series on the market. Personally speaking its marginally better not to have a silent protagonist even if he's a uninteresting one (there are some exceptions like games that rely heavily on projecting yourself onto the character). A fantastic game that definitely has lastability and replay value. You see Isaac's face way too much. And Isaac is no longer a silent protagonist. Whether or not Severed is worth getting depends entirely on how big a fan of the series you are. Even the way the shop itself works has changed for the worst. No TV and no beer make Isaac something something... Suit up and enjoy the wild and messy ride. That's what makes the name so pertinent. What made Dead Space 2 a successful sequel, in my opinion, was that it built so well on the original formula. Your suite doesnt upgrade in a linear fashion anymore which is unfortunate.

The bottom line - it's been a while since I've played games overrated that much. Here you just see a text pop up saying "Chapter..." which is pointless because you hardly notice. The betrayal of the player by a guiding figure seems to happen in every Dead Space game, and it's gotten to the point where it's almost self-parodying. It has some new monsters and 2 new weapons. What made the Dead Space series great in my opinion was the atmosphere and the sound, combined. Not a whole lot was significantly changed except for the addition of multiplayer (which I have yet to try, as it is online only) and the revamping of the sequences without gravity (which they did a great job of, these were really cumbersome in the original). Brilliant writing and direction too. You dont jump from surface to surface, now you actually fly and move about freely. Parents need to know that Dead Space 2 is not only very scary -- with disturbing-looking creatures who can jump out of the dark at you -- but there is also plenty of violence, blood (and bile), and gore. Dead Space 3 proved that changes are not always towards the best.
